How often do you expect something in the future and say:
“"I just do this, and then it will be...I just do this, and then it will be...Just let another year pass, and then it will be..."”
Or do you return to the past with expectations: "If this had happened, then today wouldn't be... If things had been different then, we wouldn't have to be here today... We lost then, so today we don't have..."“
Listen to yourself and find yourself in these phrases. Everyone uses them at some point. And every time we use them, we take the opportunity to change something or realize that a past experience brought us something good.
People are very persistent in lamenting their past and placing their hopes in the future without building foundations in the present.
A weekend participant said to me anxiously: "When will I realize all the plans I made in previous years, when will I get everything done?"
I replied: “Every time has its purpose, its situation, and if we failed to do something at that time, it does not mean that we have to do it all in the future. There are very few things that we really have to complete in future periods. Plans are fluid and adapt to our growth and learning, so their nature is changeable.”
Don't create new expectations, because expectations that are not met trigger disappointment. As I wrote, it's not right for all expectations to be met. Just think about how you would live today with everything you expected?
