I often encounter this pattern in therapy. People sit in a chair, inhale, exhale, and in front of me literally start arguing with themselves, with relatives, colleagues, friends, neighbors... and sometimes even with God.
Why?
Because their minds focus so hard on that 10 percent of the bad in life that they completely overlook the other 90 percent of the beautiful, peaceful, loving.
Our thoughts are like a magnifying glass. What we put under that glass grows, and with it the response within us grows. If we keep returning to the pain, disappointments, and injustices, they become our only reality.
But in reality, that's not the whole picture of our lives. It's just a tiny slice through which we look because we're afraid of letting go of control and maybe seeing something that would make us admit we were wrong.
Life itself will never seem perfect. But behind the appearance of imperfection is the path of the soul, which is why we live it, experience it, and learn from it. And the path of the soul is never wrong. It is intended to know love and know ourselves. On this path, we stumble upon “stumbling blocks” that occupy a restless mind.
But think about it: Is it really worth wasting your love time on these pebbles? Absolutely not.
Every time we allow small complications to distract us from the positive side we carry within us, we forget who we are. Love is not something we have to find. It is something that expands when we let go of fear, quiet the mind, and focus on the heart.
Simply consciously remind yourself every time you find yourself thinking negatively.
When we dive into our heart, our perspective changes. What was difficult becomes a lesson, what was bad becomes an opportunity and a path to greater self-love.
When life takes you into a vortex of negative thoughts again, remember:
It's up to you how much negativity you allow to take over. You can stop right now and focus on the heart and love that has always been within you and always will be.
